K12 Longitudinal Data System Training 101

K12 Longitudinal Data System Hawaii State Department of Education Data Governance and Analysis Branch What the LDS is: The LDS is.

A collection of longitudinal data from various sources that can be used to create reports all in one place. Wont need to go to multiple systems to get data. A reporting tool to help teachers, counselors, and

administrators get the data they need to make their jobs easier. A leading indicator of student risk factors. How can I use the LDS?

Identify at-risk students based on a variety of measures. Identify areas of academic strengths and needs. Look up historical test score data (H.S.A., ACT, SAT, etc).

Look up historical school performance on various measures. Look up student grades, graduation requirements, attendance, behavior, and transcripts.

What the LDS is not: The LDS is not the official system for high stakes or accountability data. Please see Strive HI, eCSSS, or other source data for high stakes or accountability data.

The LDS is not transactional you cannot enter or change data in it. Access

Attendance Metric Attendance data comes from eSIS How is percentage calculated? Percent attendance = (sum of full day and half day present attendance x 100)/(sum of total number of possible days for each

active student) Present is calculated as attending more than half of the periods in a day. Excused and unexcused absences are treated as absences

Attendance Metric Results may differ from eCSSS Early Warning System (EWS) Attendance results are calculated differently Different attendance start dates

Strive HI uses the Enrollment Count date EWS (eCSSS) starts at the beginning of the school year LDS from the start of the school year until August 31st, the prior school years attendance will be used to set attendance risk for the current school year

MMSS H.S.A. Official Test Score Risk Data comes from vendor American Institutes for Research (AIR) Meets or Exceeds Composite Score = Low Risk Approaches Composite Score = Moderate Risk

Well Below Composite Score = High Risk MMSS H.S.A. Official Test Score Risk H.S.A Unofficial Test Score Risk

GLO Marks data comes from eSIS 0 Rarely = Low Risk 1 Rarely = Medium Risk 2 or more Rarely = High Risk
