Haiku Type Drawing - Tangipahoa Parish School Board

Haiku Type Drawing Objective: The Learner/Artist will physically create an art work and use the Type Drawing App to introduce their Haiku into a photo image of their art work. Follow the directions below to complete this station activity. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. After completing your art work, carefully take a photo of it with the ipad camera. Now consider your work and write an appropriate Haiku to draw over it in the Type Drawing App. Reference this website, http://pbskids.org/arthur/games/poetry/haiku.html, if you need a refresher. Open TYPE DRAWING App. Tap on the + sign on the bottom menu bar and start a new project. Tap the photo icon on the top right of the top menu bar. Tap Import Photo. Tap Camera Roll and find your photo, Tap it, loading it into the App. Tap the Import (blue button). Tap the T (text) in the bottom tool bar. This Text menu will allow you to put words on your photo. You have choices to make now, Repeat or not, All Caps or not, add Symbols or not, and Drawing Style (wavy, horizontal, vertical or diagonal). Now add text, your Haiku, in the space provided. This text will appear over your image. Tap F (Font) in the bottom tool bar. There are more choices to make, Typeface, Size (fixed, random, by speed), Spacing and Rotation. Tap the color square; this will allow you to choice a color for your text. Note there are many other option in this menu. You will be able to experiment with them in future art problems. You may also choose a color from your artwork with the use of the next tool, the eye-dropper. You will want to remember the word contrast when making your selection. You do want your audience to see your writing. Experiment to find the right color. Next, the small black rectangle allows you to change your background. Your image will fill the space so this option wont be needed in this art problem. The next tools, arrows, let you undo and redo. You may need these when experimenting. You can also experiment with Photo Opacity (the slider bar to the right). Now you are ready to work/play!

Saving: When you have solved your art problem, tap the 3 small bars on the upper right, the SAVE menu. Tap SAVE. Your art work will be saved in the Gallery at upper left. Now tap Gallery to view. Then tap the send button (square with arrow at top) and first, title your work, using your first name and your grade, ie. Harrison8. Now save to photos and tap save (blue button). Then email your work, tap Email (blue button). Send it to yourself; I am already copied in each email. Share your work with the next student to use this app and discuss any tips you want to pass along. Exit ticket: In your sketchbook, write two sentences about this art problem: Your most rewarding feeling and most challenging feelings.
